For this week, I moved my meditations into the forest. I felt I needed more nature time this week, and three days in the forest did great things for my mental health. I am lucky to live in Brentwood Bay on a boat, and therefor I am very close to Tod Inlet.

I found a spot in the forest that I went to three times this week and spent time just sitting. During this time I used more of a mindfulness practice and focused heavily on my senses, specifically smell and sight. This week was drizzly, so I was sure to bundle up and set myself up for success. Many times when people try outdoor meditation and mindfulness they struggle with being cold and getting comfortable so it is important to take this into account before heading out. If you need to, bring a butt pad, blanket or a warm drink! It makes a world of a difference.

This time of year the forest has such great sights and smells, really allowing the practitioner to immerse themselves and be mindful of place and space.
